It is always such a pleasure to Nourish this Festive Surf Retreat for Risto Duggan. We go back to Whistler in the mid nineties. Chris’s radical approach to life inspires everyone around him. His Yoga Classes are always infused with the most amazing play lists ~ in another life he must have been a DJ!

For the 5th Year in a row, hOMe Grown Catering is honoured to provide Farm to Table Catering from the Cowichan Valley. Diving into prep, the speakers rock with JJ Grey & Mofro and I Groove into Corn Chowder and Emerald City Soup. These 2 make ahead and freeze dishes get better with time. The more I prep ahead, the better the chances are that I will get to participate in a Yoga class and SURF ~ YES!!!!

I learned that little if any nutritional value is lost by freezing when I first experimented with sprouting in hOMe Grown production. If it will sprout after it has been frozen ~ the Life Force continues 🙂


A loose Menu has been designed, but I am always open to what pops out at me as I procure from our Garden and the Local Farms… other words, the menu is subject to change based on Inspiration! YES!!!!!

We have had the warmest summer in a long while and most of our salad greens have bolted. Kale is still prolific along with purslane (my new favourite weed) I am excited to share Greens grown by our friends at Blue Roots Farm with Aquaponics…..the tastiest greens, grown in water…..more on that in another Post!

Dinner ~ Lemon Pistachio Cashew Cheese Balls w/Almond Rosemary RAWgles, Roasted Polenta Cakes w/Chipotle Marinara, Roasted Green Bean Salad, Kale Ceasar Salad
Dessert ~ Living Chocolate Almond Torte

Lunch ~ Creamy Vegan Corn Chowder, Happy Egg Frittata Primavera, Roasted Roots w/ Chipotle Ketchup, Blue Roots Farm Greens

Dinner ~ Coconut Curry, Sprouted Lentil Dahl, Brown Basmati, Pappadums, Raita and Plum Ginger Chutney
Dessert ~ Blackberry Lemon Cashew Cheesecake
