Anytime Chai Shared with us by Kari Mathieson ~ one of our Catering Ninjas! Oh how I love my CHAI!! So warming and comforting. I love to make it with black tea when I want a little pick me up or when I don’t want the caffeine I use rooibos tea. My new favorite non caffeinated version is with Chaga tea. This recipe is for a big batch of Chai concentrate that you can keep in the fridge. Just heat the concentrate and add your favorite tea and milk and sweetener if you like. PRINT RECIPE 2 Litres Chai concentrate 9 cups water 2 cinnamon sticks 3 Tablespoons of cardamom pods 6 cloves 15 peppercorns 1 vanilla bean (optional) 1 cup fresh ginger chopped into 1 inch pieces Add these ingredients to a pot and bring to a boil. Reduce to a simmer Place lid on and let simmer for 1 hour At this point you can add your favorite tea (1/4 cup) and let it steep or you can leave the concentrate without tea and add it when you re-heat the concentrate. Strain the liquid into a couple glass jars you can now store in the fridge for up to 5 days To serve mix 1/2 concentrate with 1/2 milk or milk substitute heat until desired temperature and sweeten as you like Share if you enjoy!
